Plugin
Install the remocn plugin for Claude Code or Codex. It turns a one-line brief into a Remotion video built from remocn components, checks the frames, and opens the result in Remocn Studio.
The remocn plugin packages everything an AI agent needs to make a video with remocn: the agent skill, a step-by-step video workflow, two helper agents, and a connection to this site's component catalog. One install works in Claude Code and in Codex.
/remocn:video 30-second product demo for Tasklane, a shared task inbox for small teamsThe agent reads your repo for content, plans a storyboard and waits for your go-ahead. Then it installs the components, writes the video, renders stills to check how it looks, and offers to open the project in Remocn Studio for tweaking and export.

| Part | What it does |
|---|---|
/remocn:video <brief> | The main workflow: brief → archetype → storyboard → install → compose → visual check → hand-off. Stops after the storyboard so you can change direction before any code is written |
/remocn:changelog [range] | Collects a release from git tags, commits or merged pull requests, writes it as short on-screen lines, and builds a changelog video |
/remocn:add <name> | Installs one component, reads its docs page, and places it in a Sequence with the right length |
/remocn:studio | Prepares the project for Remocn Studio and opens it there |
remocn skill | The agent skill: component tiers, timing rules, composition recipes. Loads on its own for any video work |
video-director agent | Plans the storyboard: one beat per row, a component per beat, frame budgets that hit the target length |
scene-reviewer agent | Renders stills at key frames of every beat and checks them for clipped text, empty frames, low contrast and jumps between beats |
remocn MCP server | Connects to https://remocn.dev/mcp for component search, component pages, video plans and live previews |
The agents run in Claude Code. In Codex the video workflow does the same planning and checking itself.
Plugin or skill
The bare skill (npx skills add Remocn/remocn) teaches an agent how remocn works and leaves the
workflow to you. The plugin adds the workflow on top: the storyboard step, project setup, visual
checks and the Studio hand-off. Both read the same catalog live from this site, and the plugin
includes the skill, so install one or the other.
The plugin works alongside Remotion's own skills. Remotion's skills answer how Remotion works; the remocn plugin decides what goes on screen.
Project setup it handles
remocn assumes a Remotion project. When the folder is empty, /remocn:video creates one with
npx create-video --blank. In either case it then makes three small, visible edits so components
install and render:
components.jsonwith the@remocnregistry, becauseshadcn initdoesn't recognise Remotion projects- the
@/*path intsconfig.json - the same
@/alias inremotion.config.ts, because Remotion's bundler doesn't read tsconfig paths
Videos are written to src/videos/<slug>/index.tsx and export a meta object with the
dimensions, frame rate and duration. That layout is what Remocn Studio opens, and it registers each
video as a composition with id <slug> in Remotion Studio too. In a project you already have, the
agent says which files it will touch and asks first.
Open in Remocn Studio
Remocn Studio is a desktop app for macOS and Linux that previews a Remotion project live, lets you tune elements by hand, and exports mp4. After a video is built, the plugin asks whether to open it there:
- Studio installed: the plugin starts it and tells you which folder to pick with Open Folder (⌘O).
- Not installed: you get the download link and the same steps for afterwards.
- Windows: Studio isn't available, so the plugin skips the offer. Preview with
npx remotion studioand render withnpx remotion render <slug>.
The project already carries Studio's manifest (.remocn/project.json), so it opens as-is.
In claude.ai and ChatGPT
Chat apps have no terminal, so the plugin can't install components there. What does work is the
catalog connection: add https://remocn.dev/mcp as a custom connector to search components, read
their pages, plan a video and preview components inline. Then take the plan to Claude Code or Codex
to build it.
