Making a launch video for Tenkit

Tenkit turns one Expo codebase into many branded apps — white-label, multi-tenant, standalone — from a single source. The hard part of a launch video for a tool like that is showing the idea instead of narrating it. This unofficial cut runs about thirty-four seconds and spends its whole length on one metaphor: one becoming many, then many resolving back into one.

The storyboard

  1. One codebase — the phrase resolves in the center, then fans vertically into three tenant-colored copies: blue, orange, teal.
  2. The reveal — the Tenkit mark assembles, settles into its true lockup proportions, and the tagline reads: "Ship one app as many branded apps."
  3. The setup line — "The setup you actually ship."
  4. The setup beats — three stack in turn: white-label apps, a runtime tenant app, generic and standalone.
  5. The bloom — a Voronoi field re-lights in the three tenant colors and its cells bloom outward over the cut.
  6. The money shot — "Same code, different identity" hands off to three larger phone mockups, each branded: Atlas, Ember, Mint.
  7. The montage — app variants cycle, local Tenkit commands type themselves, and EAS build rows land with checks settling one by one.
  8. Create — a package manager cycles through pnpm, bun, npm, then locks into pnpm create tenkit@latest.
  9. Outro — the three tenant dots converge, turn white, collapse into a single point, and grow into the Tenkit mark; the wordmark and tenkit.dev resolve beneath.

Director's notes

The shader is the pitch. Voronoi — one surface partitioned into many cells — literally is "one codebase, many apps." The field stays neutral zinc until the turn, when the cells re-light in the three tenant colors and bloom over the cut into the showcase. The metaphor is never spoken; it's the geometry the whole video sits on.

Color only ever means "a tenant." The film is #09090b and #fafafa; the only colors — blue #208AEF, orange #EF8520, teal #2DD4A8 — appear exclusively as tenant identity: the three copies, the three phones, the bloom. Because color has exactly one job, the viewer learns the product's core idea without a sentence explaining it.

The motion is the thesis, run forward then backward. Division always moves outward — the hook fans, the phones split, the cells expand. The outro reverses it precisely: three dots converge, go white, collapse to a point, and grow into the mark. The video ends by proving its own claim in reverse.

The prompt

The brief, as a prompt (validated against a clean project + the remocn skill before publishing):

I'm making an unofficial launch video for Tenkit (tenkit.dev), a starter
that turns one Expo codebase into many branded apps, with remocn
(remocn.dev) in a Remotion project — install anything you need with
`npx shadcn add @remocn/<name>`.

Build a ~34-second, 1280×720, 30fps introducing spot on one metaphor —
one becoming many, then many resolving back to one:

1. Hook — "One codebase" resolves, then fans vertically into three
   tenant-colored copies (blue, orange, teal).
2. Reveal — the Tenkit mark assembles, descends into its true lockup
proportions, and the tagline "Ship one app as many branded apps" reads
   centered.
3. Setup line — "The setup you actually ship".
4. Setup beats — three stack in turn: white-label apps / runtime tenant
   app / generic and standalone.
5. Bloom — a Voronoi field re-lights in the three tenant colors, its cells
   expanding outward over the cut.
6. Money shot — "Same code, different identity" hands off to three larger
phone mockups branded Atlas / Ember / Mint.
7. Montage — app variants cycle, local Tenkit commands type themselves, and
EAS build rows land with checks settling one by one, stations
   whip-panning left.
8. Create — a package manager cycles pnpm / bun / npm, then locks into
   `pnpm create tenkit@latest`.
9. Outro — the three tenant dots converge, turn white, collapse to one
point, and grow into the Tenkit mark; the wordmark and tenkit.dev
   resolve beneath.

Style: #09090b canvas, #fafafa ink, quiet muted foreground. The only colors
are the three tenant accents — blue #208AEF, orange #EF8520, teal #2DD4A8 —
and they appear ONLY as tenant identity, never as decoration. Space Grotesk
for spoken lines, Inter for small supporting text, Geist Mono for code and
commands. One Paper Design Voronoi field carries the whole video — neutral
zinc cells, slow movement, a vignette scrim — and the same field re-lit in
the tenant colors is the only transition bloom. Division always moves
outward (the hook fans, the phones split, the cells expand); narrative
turns push into the frame; feature stations travel left; the outro reverses
the split. Embed the real Tenkit logo as inline paths so the mark and
wordmark animate separately — never redraw it. No letter-spacing, uppercase,
pills, badges, or highlight markers.

Make one for your product

The generic recipe is Launch video. When the idea matters more than any single feature — like one-codebase-many-apps here — Directing your agent is how you get the metaphor across in plain words.
