# Cell Divide
URL: https://remocn.dev/docs/numbers/cell-divide

A grid of dots doubles by cell division up to a count of 64

- Install: `npx shadcn@latest add @remocn/cell-divide`
- Vibe: data
- Natural length: 136f @ 30fps

## Installation

```bash
npx shadcn@latest add @remocn/cell-divide
```

## Usage

```tsx
// src/Root.tsx
import { Composition } from "remotion";
import { CellDivide } from "@/components/remocn/cell-divide";
const CellDivideScene = () => <CellDivide generations={6} label="×2 every week" />;
export const RemotionRoot = () => (
  <Composition
    id="CellDivide"
    component={CellDivideScene}
    durationInFrames={165}
    fps={30}
    width={1280}
    height={720}
  />
);
```

A single dot divides in two, then four, then eight, each division morphing like a cell and the grid of dots growing smaller as it fills, with the count rolling beside it. After the last division the cells pulse in a wave and a caption with an accent dot sits under the number. Pass `generations` from 2 to 7 and `label`. The length shown is for the default of 6 generations. It ships light and dark through the `theme` prop.

## Props

| Prop | Type | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| `generations` | `number` | `6` | Number of divisions, 2 to 7. The final count is 2 to that power. |
| `label` | `string` | `"×2 every week"` | Caption under the number. |
| `accent` | `string` | `"#3B5BFD"` | Colour of the dot before the caption. |
| `theme` | `"dark" \| "light"` | `"dark"` | Ships light and dark. |
| `speed` | `number` | `1` | Playback speed multiplier; 1 is the designed pace. |

## Use when
- A doubling or exponential-growth beat where one dot divides into 2, 4, 8 up to 64 while the count rolls beside it.
- A 'x2 every week' style claim that needs a biological, organic feel instead of a bar chart.
- A stat scene with a big number on the right and a short caption with a marker dot.

## Don't use when
- You want a grid of discrete dots lit up to show a share of 100 — use `unit-grid`.
- You want a smooth rising curve for exponential growth — use `growth-line`.
- You want a branching structure rather than a doubling grid — use `branch-tree`.
